Tamil Nadu, India. May,2014:Rangeela (36), Nayak , leader of transgender women, and president of HIV positive people welfare society in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu offers her prayer as the priest ties Thali (mangalsutra), a religious object to signify the wedlock, around her neck.During this annual festival transgender women take part in the annual ritual during which they get married to the god and become widowed the next day, a symbolic ritual based on a belief carried from the Hindu epic Mahabarata in which Hindu God Krishna transforms into a woman and marries Aravan in order to fulfil the last wishes of Aravan (Pandava prince) who was sacrificed the next day to ensure the Pandavas victory in Kurukshetra war.Photographs of transgender community in Tamil Nadu India for a story on India's third sex and the awareness of HIV in their community. அன்றொரு நாள் என் அன்னையவள்
அவன் எதிரே வருதல் கண்டான்
சட்டென வீட்டினுள் புகுந்தான்
சகுனம் சரி இல்லையென
காக்கைக்கும் தன் குஞ்சு பொன்
குஞ்சாயிற்றே
என்றோ என் தந்தை மறைந்ததற்கு
இன்றும் அன்னை அமங்கலியாம்
இன்றோ என் நெஞ்சு இன்னும் வலிக்கிறதே
மற்றொரு நாள் முக்கியவேலை
வெளியே செல்லவிருந்தேன்
எதிர் வீட்டு அம்மையாரை
என் எதிரே வரக்கேட்டேன்
அவரும் கணவனை இழந்தவர்தான்
அவர் எதிரே வந்திடவே
நானும் வெளியே சென்றேன்
மாலை நான் வீடு திரும்பி
வந்தேன்
என் அன்னை கண்கள்
கண்ணீர் உதிர்க்கக் கண்டேன்
என்னை அணைத்து உச்சிமுகர்ந்தாள் தாய்
நான் உணர்ந்தேன்
தாயவள் உணர்வினை
உணர்ந்தோர் மற்றவர்க்கும் உணர்த்துவீரே!
